Casa de Creatie Gavril Cacina is an artist&writer residency founded in the summer  of 2022 in Vatra Dornei, a two centuries famous spa and tourist resort from middle of Northern Carpathians mountains, Romania, bordering Transylvania and Bukovina provinces, open for local and international creative people to be hosted in the house of the local painter Gavril Cacina (1900-1972).

The accepted artists and writers, through application procedure, will receive accommodation, assistance and guiding during their stay. Asociatia Culturala Artfest may arrange stays up to 90 days, if available rooms, for any creative persons. There is a request for a donation fee to cover house expenses of 10 euro per night. Residents’ readings, public events, exhibitions, performance, meeting with local artists and writers and local community are welcomed and may be organized by Artfest staff.

If you are interested into a residency stay you need to send an application, by email at attaching a CV/bio and relevant links with your work (website, texts, images, videos, audio/video recordings etc.) or attachments on email. The house that belonged to local Gavril Cacina painter is placed in a quiet downtown street of Vatra Dornei, close enough by forest, on a mountain moderate slope but also by walking distance to downtown (5-10 minutes) to central town park, restaurants, supermarket, the open local market, ATMs&banks and train station). Residency is set up in the upper floor, a 100 meters square apartment with all regular facilities and Wi-Fi.

The already well-known Via Transylvania (see, one of the longest hiking route from Eastern Europe is crossing from the front of the house.

Zidul de Hartie is a literary and art group founded in 2008 in Suceava city, at beginning as a local movement of young poets. During years, Zidul de Hartie (meaning The Paper Wall/Fence) organized various cultural events such public readings, short term residencies, festivals of art, literature and music, published author books and poetry anthologies.

Asociatia Culturala Artfest was founded in Suceava city in 2005. Many of art and literature projects were run into partnership with Zidul de Hartie. Artfest Cultural Association is a non-profit art organization running under Romanian and EU rules. Our activities are made solely by donations and sponsorship.
